i look around for the last time
before i light the torch
this was my life for too many years
a collection of old regrets

i step onto the threshold
flames burn behind my back
smoke follows in my footsteps
don't dare to turn around

i don't know what i will find
in those strange lands ahead
what awaits me in the cold winter night
i step into the unknown

the fires burn my skin
unleashed by pain of failure
i tried to cleanse the wounds
with blazing-hot inferno

i'll venture to the edge of the world
forget what's been devoured by fire
to find peace, or fall on my sword
but never return to what's left behind

i know i will never find
what i set out to get
i get lost in the dead of the night
but never turn back

the night pulls me deep
and i accept my failures
i proudly wear my scars
dissolving into darkness

the cold will cleanse my mind
as i walk through the blizzard
the echoes of the past
die down without a trace

my past i leave behind
